Growing up in Campbell River is kind of magic.
The muddy boots, salty hair, pockets full of rocks, and “Mom, look what I found!” kind of magic.
So here it is: the unofficial Campbell River childhood bucket list.
The Bucket List:
- Get a ridiculously big ice cream cone at Discovery Pier.
- Get your very own library card at the Campbell River Library.
- Meet the weird little creatures at the Discovery Passage Aquarium.
- Spend a rainy afternoon burning off ALL the energy at The Reef Indoor Playground.
- Make some furry friends at Holly Hill Farm.
- Spend a hot summer day at the Willow Point splash park.
- Watch the salmon return at the Quinsam Hatchery.
- Go swimming (and eventually brave the diving board!) at Strathcona Gardens.
- Learn to skate at Strathcona Gardens.
- Walk across the Elk Falls Suspension Bridge.
- Try climbing at On The Rocks.
- Explore the Museum at Campbell River on a rainy day.
- Drop a fishing line off Discovery Pier.
- Look for sea glass at the Spit or Saratoga Beach.
- Try out some international food at Baba Gannouj, Potstickers, or Wasabiya Japanese Sushi Cafe.
- Go to Pumpkin Fest at Coastal Black Estate Winery in the fall.
- Watch the Big Truck Parade bundled up with hot chocolate.
- Fine some pre-owned treasures at a local thrift shop.
- Listen to some live music at Spirit Square.
- Spot a whale from shore and absolutely lose your mind over it.
And someday, realize that all these ordinary little Campbell River days were actually your childhood.
