Pregnancy is beautiful.

It’s also swollen feet, stretch marks, heartburn, exhaustion, weird cravings, an aching back and wondering how something the size of a watermelon is supposed to exit your body.

Both things can be true.

That’s what I want to photograph.

Not just the perfect bump with your hands placed just so. I want the belly in all its glory. Your partner trying to feel a kick. The toddler who has absolutely no concept of personal space. The laughter, the tiredness, the anticipation — and the body doing something completely incredible.

Maternity photos don't have to feel like a

maternity photoshoot.

We can head to the beach. Wander somewhere wild around Campbell River. Stay home and document an ordinary morning. Bring your partner, your kids, your dog — or make the whole thing about you.

You don't need to know how to pose.

You don't need a fancy dress that blows in the wind, and trails behind you 200 feet.

And you definitely don't need to hide the parts of pregnancy that aren't polished.

Because one day, that belly won't stick out to much.

Then somehow there's a newborn in your arms. Then a toddler. Then a kid with muddy boots running ten feet ahead of you on the trail.

Pregnancy is the first chapter of their childhood.

And I think it deserves to be remembered just as honestly.
